In 2004, a desire to obey God in sharing mutual discipleship journeys, coupled with the realization that
we might not be fully equipped for such a task, touched our hearts. As a small group of women, we dedicated
time during the summer months to study on this subject using the Bible and a supplemental book titled "Becoming a Titus 2 Woman." After completing our study, we brought our desire to "mentor and be mentored" before the Lord and waited for His guidance.
In the spring of 2005, God provided an opportunity to bring this vision to life. Over twelve months, spanning 2005 and 2006, a Circle of Twelve was formed. This group embarked on a journey through four sacred seasons of Christian mentoring. It involved six older and six younger women in one-on-one and full-circle relationships.
These twelve remarkable women, each with different backgrounds and immediate life needs, faithfully challenged and encouraged one another for one year.
Since 2006, we have focused on developing a ministry template designed to do our part to encourage and equip the Body of Christ. Our hope is to fulfill the Titus mandate. Our focus includes gathering, prayer, teaching, spiritual disciplines, Bible exploration, discussions, fellowship, outreach encouragement, (and usually food!)
Open Book Ministries is a Colorado based ministry with the goal to live, teach, and cultivate a lifestyle of daily retreat. We want God's people to hear Him in the noise, follow Him in the crowd, serve Him in the busyness, and worship Him in Spirit and in truth. We encourage daily practices of reading the Bible, worshipping through music and liturgy, and engaging in prayer and discipleship. We encourage and participate in service projects and mission outreaches.
"That you may walk worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing Him, being fruitful in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God"
Colossians 1:10
