Talking to God

How would you define prayer?

At its simplest, prayer is simply talking to God.

And, like any other conversation we may have, we take turns.

We talk; God listens. God talks, we listen.

Sometimes we don’t know what to say or how to start in prayer.

It may help to begin with praising God from Scripture.

Read Psalm 103:1-5 out loud to Father God.

Make it personal . . .

“Bless the Lord, O my soul, and with all that is within me,

I bless Your holy name.

Bless the Lord, O my soul; I forget not all Your benefits.

You forgive all my iniquities.

You heal all my diseases, and You redeem my life from destruction, etc.”

As you’re doing that, Holy Spirit may bring some specific

things to your remembrance to thank Him for.

Like the time you were speeding, and the police

pulled you over and gave you only a warning instead of a ticket.

Or perhaps your neighbor shoveled your driveway one wintry

day when it was really cold outside.

Maybe someone likes to bring homemade meals or cookies to you. Yum!

All those acts of kindness are God’s benefits to you.

Remember to acknowledge and thank God for them.

Before you know it, you will find that you have been so caught up in

praising God that 20-30 minutes have transpired in prayer.

God welcomes you with open arms every time you reach out to Him.

Let’s be often in the Throne Room to pray with Him!
